Upper/Lower split or Not?

I’m wondering if I should split my days in the gym by upper body and lower body so I work each muscle group twice or if I should just split each muscle group into individual days? For example, if I work chest on its own day i may do around 7 exercises, but just one day a week. If i do upper/lower split I’ll probably do 2 exercises for chest on each day for a total of 4 in one week. Would i get the same results most likely or is there an advantage to one over the other?
