Incorporating calisthenics with gym

Hey guys. I’m making this post because I wanted to know the best way to improve on calisthenics while also working out at the gym. I’m confused because some people say you can just incorporate calisthenics into your workout routine but whenever I try to do push-ups after a push day workout it’s like I can barely do any. I’m looking for a way to get better at calisthenics because currently I can’t do very many things with body weight and I hate it. I can barely do 20 push-ups. Let me know what you guys think I should do
