Building muscle is easy right?

Hey people, my name is Chris and I was wondering about the fact, that you need to train 8-12 reps and need to get to failure, to “gain muscle”. Now I’m thinking about calisthenics and how they do way more than 8-12 reps and still gain muscle. Which means no matter how you train, if you train “semi hard” you WILL gain muscle right? I’ve been training for 7-8 months not 100% hard as fuck and still gained quite some muscle I’d say.
