Building muscle and losing fat on maintenance calories

I’m a bit of a skinny fat (a bit more on the fat side), so I wanna lose fat and build muscle at the same time. I plan to consume my TDEE (maintenance calories) and train hard. Will that strategy be useful to me? Provided that I’ve always went to the gym for a month or two then stop then return for a month or two and so on. I don’t know if I’ve achieved all my newbie gains or not yet (I gained 3.3 kgs of muscle mass since I started to go to the gym irregularly as explained above).
