Am i doing it wrong? (pro split & exercises)

So i am doing a pro split program and i was wondering if I’m doing it wrong, for example: on chest day i do 4 exercises of the same family (flat and inclined bench presses, and flat & inclined dumbbell presses) with some push ups, dips and flies and pec flies machine so total of 8 maybe 9 exercises if I push it. My friend told me tgat i should switch to chest & triceps.. Back and biceps kind if split. But my first trainer gave me thisbpro split and told me i should do 8 exercises per muscle and hit all angles. Am i doing it wrong or is my trainer’s theory outdated? Some feedback will be appreciated, thanks
